Happy Birthday baby boy!

 It’s hard to believe that this picture was taken nearly a year ago while we were spending a lazy afternoon at the pumpkin patch.  Look how tiny my little man was!!  And to think that tomorrow he turns 2.  Yikes!  Where is the time going??  What happened to that baby boy in the pumpkin patch?!

I love this shot because it was our first trip to the pumpkin patch and little man had a blast.  He was (and still is) obsessed with pumpkins.  Now we’re gearing up for the pumpkin patch once again and hopefully we’ll be making that trip soon.  Now head on over to I ♥ Faces  to see some awesome “blue” photos!

{at the Festival of Nations, 2009}

I snapped this shot while we were visiting Hubby’s family in Minnesota.  There’s just something so precious about the two of them playing on the tractor. Little man is obsessed with all things tractors, so you can imagine his shear joy at discovering his great Aunt and Uncle had a big, old red one sitting in their field.  Little man was “driving” while hubby sang the tractor song.  Love it!

has taken up residence outside our back door.  And he’s not so itsy-bitsy.

We have glass doors leading from our kitchen/dining area to the back deck which are now home to our new, um, pet spider.  I love these doors because we can sit and eat while enjoying the scenery of the woods in the back yard.  Well, that used to be the case.  Now we have a close up view of a not-so-tiny spider that has built a humongous web across one of the doors.  Tear down the web, and he rebuilds it in mere minutes. Oh my.

If you know me, then you know I have an irrational phobia of all spiders.  I might love me some nature, but spiders….oh no.  I can’t even find a spec of acceptance for those creepy crawling creeps.  River, on the other hand, loves them.  “Spida, spida, spida!!!!” is all I ever hear him say now.  So it turns out, we now have a pet spider, so to speak.  This thing has been living here for over a week and has been one busy spider.  At night, we turn the back light on and watch him cocoon and devour giant grasshoppers, moths and other spiders.  Wow.  It may make my stomach turn and prevent me from ever going out to our back deck again, but it’s been a great learning experience for little man.  So, I guess I can put up with the little guy for a bit longer.  But seriously, eeek.  Turn away now if you don’t want to see documentation of the spider…Hubby took some pictures, of course.

On Saturday River took his first train ride and loved every moment of it.  He was captivated by the moving scenery outside of his window.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen him sit so still for such a long period of time!
