This past weekend, the Hubby and I celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary by leaving the kids with family (our first time away from them, ever!) and heading to the wild and wonderful backcountry of North Carolina’s Appalachian mountains. I’ll share more details in the upcoming posts, but for now, enjoy some of the sights from our first day in the forest.

You got me with the photos, then the poem, wow, eyes full of tears. So true!! My Appalachians, how I miss them. Beautiful photos, Lauren!!
Oh, and what a great way to celebrate! Congratulations! Well-deserved! – Kaye

The Appalachian forest area is absolutely stunning, especially the area in North Carolina. It’s great to see non-intrusive manmade structures, like the image of the bridge, blending into the natural surroundings and benefiting other hikers and travelers. Too often things like bridges and signs can become an eyesore on the trail, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here at all.
Beautiful pics and poem…what could be better? (Oh, I beautiful day…and it looks like you got that too!)
